FC DELCO Academy Staff Professionals Both At Home and Abroad

Academy coaches Jeff Larentowicz and Jerry White have both made the rounds recently in the media; Jeff as a part of last year's MLS season culminating in a trip to the finals of the MLS Cup championship, and Jerry playing in Denmark.

Jeff spent the entire month of December with the Academy before having to return to training camp with the New England Revolution. "He is a great role model for the team," said Academy Director Alan Mezger. "Jeff is a graduate of Brown University, was drafted by the Revolution and played one year on the reserve squad, and finally earned his way into the two-time MLS Cup finalist starting lineup," added Mezger.

Jeff was s elected by the Revolution in the fourth round (45th overall) in the 2005 MLS Supplemental Draft. He capitalized on first-team playing opportunities early in the 2006 season to establish himself a legitimate starting-caliber midfielder in MLS … elevated his status from reserve team regular to a player who Steve Nicol felt comfortable inserting into the MLS Cup final in 2006 … drafted as a defender but proved he has the skills to play in midfield, as well …a good communicator, a tough tackler and a strong presence in the aerial game ... elevated to the Revs’ senior 18-man roster for the 2007 season.

2006: Established himself as a presence in the midfield after earning a spot in the lineup due to injuries and international call-ups … made his first appearance of 2006 on May 6 against Los Angeles and appeared in the next 15 games and 26 of the next 28 games, starting 19 total matches … also appeared in all four postseason games, starting two in the midfield … recorded his first-career MLS goal on Aug. 27, netting the game-winning goal against Columbus at Gillette Stadium … assisted on Andy Dorman's game-tying goal in the Revs' improbable 3-3 draw at Chicago on June 11, helping to cap the Revs' two-goal comeback during stoppage time … against USL-1 side Rochester Raging Rhinos, scored the game-winning penalty kick after a 0-0 game through two extra-time sessions, sending the Revs through to the quarterfinals against the Chicago Fire.

2005: Made his MLS debut on May 14 at D.C., entering the match in the 89th minute ... Played in and started 11 Reserve Division matches for the Revs while captaining the squad; his 890 minutes were second on the Revs' reserve squad.

COLLEGE: In 66 collegiate appearances, the central defender scored seven goals and six assists … helped Brown capture two Ivy League Championships … a two-time second-team NSCAA All-America selection and a four-time All-Ivy performer at Brown.

QUICK KICKS: Son of Ron and Margie Larentowicz ... has one older sister, Laura ... trained with Malmo FF of Allsvenskan, the premier league in Sweden, during the summer between his junior and senior years at Brown, and with Ipswitch Town of England's second division in the off-season after the 2005 MLS season … majored in Public Policy and American Institutions at Brown ... a graduate of Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia, where he lettered in soccer, basketball, and golf ... lists Interpol, the Roots, Talking Heads and Radiohead among his current favorite musical artists ... is a fan of A.C. Milan and his favorite place to travel to is Sweden ... other hobbies include golf and Google.

Jeff is also featured on the Revolutions Top Ten Goals of 2007 video netting numbers 2 and 3.

Jerry White is another former DELCO player that is playing abroad in Holland. While not an offical Academy Staff member, Jerry will, from time to time, stop by and train with the boys. Jerry is featured in a compilation video from the 2007 season.
